Here’s an inquiry from a Road Warrior reader:

Can you find out what the status is of the work on 101 in the Ukiah area? Please tell me they are coming back to do the southbound #2 lane from Highway 20 to Burke Hill? And while I’m at it, they had planned to be done with repairs and then grind down the new sections by December — not. Is there a new schedule? Projection? Just like to know.
Thanks,
Samantha
Ukiah

Here’s the response by Caltrans spokesman Phil Frisbie Jr.:

In response to Samantha’s questions, here is the latest status of the project:

The concrete work on the northbound # 2 lane is complete, and currently concrete work is progressing on both northbound and southbound #1 lanes using the median to access both sides. As soon as the #1 lanes are complete work will begin on the southbound #2.

The grinding subcontractor has been delayed on another job due to the back-to-back storms in December, but the grinding is scheduled to begin by Monday, Jan. 10.

The progress of work will be greatly influenced by the weather, specifically rain. While both concrete work and grinding can take place when the roadway is wet, they cannot take place when it is raining due to safety and the possibility of concrete getting into the waterways.
