Caltrans on Friday will cut Highway 1 down to one lane at a point two miles south of the Russian River for construction work.

The one-way traffic control through a temporary traffic light will be 24/7 for about one month.

The recent heavy rains caused a slipout along the highway, and crews will be building a retaining wall at the spot to try to prevent more slipouts.
