It’s enough to rattle your teeth, but a fix is coming soon.

For the last several months, drivers in Petaluma have had to put up with buckled pavement on eastbound Washington Street adjacent to the Grocery Outlet store, caused when a water main ruptured last winter.

But City Engineer Curt Bates says he expects a contractor hired by the city to repair the short section of road in early June, with the work taking about a week.

During the repair work, he says, it’s likely Washington Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction. So, drivers, beware,

The project is costing about $25,000, he said.
