Here are Santa Rosa’s most dangerous intersections, based on the number of collisions at each in 2011 as reported by the Santa Rosa Police Department.

Each week during the year, Santa Rosa motorcycle officers typically spend part of their day at one of these intersections, looking for traffic violators, with the idea of trying to make them safer.

No. 1

Highway 12 at Mission Boulevard, with 18 collisions in 2011. In 2010, this intersection ranked second with 17 collisions. To read more about this intersection, CLICK HERE.

Tied for Second

Corby Avenue at Hearn Avenue, with 13 collisions. In 2010, it was tied for fifth with 12.

Santa Rosa Avenue at Hearn Avenue, with 13. In 2010, it didn’t make the list, so, obviously, this is particularly an intersection to be careful at. This is this week’s intersection targeted for extra enforcement by the motorcycle officers.

Dutton Avenue at Sebastopol Road, with 13. In 20,10, it was third.

Third

Guerneville Road at Marlow Road, with 11. In 2010, it was tied for ninth with 7.

Fourth

Morgan Street at College Avenue, with 10.  In 2010, it was tied for ninth with 7.

Tied for Fifth

Piner Road at Coffey Lane, with 9. In 2010, it was tied for seventh with 9.

Sonoma Avenue at Farmers Lane, with 9. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

Airway Drive at Hopper Avenue, with 9. It wasn’t listed in  2010.

Cleveland Avenue at Guerneville Road, with 9. In 2010, it was tied for sixth with 10.

Baker Avenue at Santa Rosa Avenue, with 9. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

Tied for Sixth

Fountain Grove Parkway at Mendocino Avenue, with 8. In 2010, it was tied for fourth with 13.

Mendocino Avenue at Steele Lane, with 8. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

Petaluma Hill Road at Kawana Springs Road, with 8. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

Stony Point Road at Sebastopol Road, with 8. This was the No. 1 dangerous intersection in 2010 with 20 collisions and also in 2009 with 19.

Aston Avenue at Petaluma Hill Road, with 8. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

Mendocino Avenue at Silva Avenue, with 8. In 2010, it was tied for fifth with 12.

North Dutton Avenue at West Third Street, with 8. In 2010, it was tied for seventh with 9.

West Third Street at Stony Point Road, with 8. In 2010, it was tied for ninth with 7.

Piner Road at Marlow Road, with 8. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

Tied for Seventh

Farmers Lane at Montgomery Drive, with 7. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

Fifth Street at Morgan Street, with 7. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

North Dutton Avenue at West Ninth Street, with 7. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

Third Street at Morgan Street, with 7. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

Fulton Road at Highway 12, with 7. It wasn’t listed in 2010.

This list is based on the number of collisions in which police took a report. If a crash was minor and the drivers didn’t seek a report, it’s not counted in these statistics.
