Petaluma police on Friday will be out looking for drivers going at unsafe speeds.

Seven officers will target drivers on the city’s main streets from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.,  Sgt. Ken Savano said.

The extra enforcement, funded by the state Office of Traffic Safety, targets drivers who are driving at an unsafe speed, whether it’s faster or slower than the speed limit.

A similar operation last month resulted in 45 tickets being issued, with 26 for unsafe speed.
