Drivers can expect delays starting Thursday and continuing into next week on Lakeville Highway between Petaluma and Highway 37.

One-way traffic control will be in effect from about Old Lakeville Road 2 to Old Lakeville Road 3 to allow crews to remove two diseased eucalyptus trees and to cut dead limbs and otherwise do safety work on 18 others along the road, said Rob Silva, roads division manager of the Sonoma County Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The work is scheduled to be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Wednesday, but with no work on the weekend. Silva said both lanes of Lakeville could be closed temporarily at times for safety as the crews work.

The department recommends drivers take alternate routes if possible.
