Santa Rosa police on Wednesday will be targeting motorcyclists for traffic violations as well as drivers of cars and trucks who take actions that threaten the safety of motorcyclists.

It’s one of several such extra enforcement operations the Police Department has taken and is taking this year.

The all-day enforcement, funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety, will involve several officers whose main focus will be motorcycle safety, although they will handle other traffic enforcement issues as well as emergency calls.

Motorcycles are one the greatest sound polluters around. The excuse operators give about the noise they make in order for fellow drivers to hear them coming is really stupid, lookup “Doppler effect” and understand. Why can’t a law be issued that cars and “motorcycles” be no louder than a Police motorcycle or a police car?

Here we go again, more government-mandated discrimination against individuals who choose to ride motorcycles. Isn’t America great?
