Here’s a couple of weekend events that could affect traffic:

–The Gopro Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma starts Friday and goes through Sunday at the Sears Point racetrack. The CHP doesn’t expect much of a problem on Friday and Saturday, but Napa Officer Jake Ramos warns congestion is expected on Highway 37 Sunday morning before the race starts and Sunday afternoon after it ends.

Ramos says the CHP will have extra officers helping ease traffic pains on Saturday and Sunday, but he suggests drivers take an alternate route Sunday. That could be using Highway 116 to Highway 121, Highway 12 to 121 or in Santa Rosa using Mark West Springs Road to get to Calistoga/Napa County.

He says the congestion isn’t expected to be as bad as it is for the NASCAR race held every year there.

–The Santa Rosa Marathon  expects about 1,500 runners on Sunday. It starts at 7 a.m. from Juilliard Park and ends there as well. The marathon will affect First and A streets and part of Santa Rosa Avenue. Any traffic issues are expected to be minimal.
