Crashes involving the tiny subcompact Toyota Yaris result in more injuries than any other cars, the Highway Loss Data Institute says.

A story in the Los Angeles Times says the insurance industry study found personal injury claims were filed 28.5 times for every 1,000 Yaris cars.

In contrast, the Porsche 911 had the lowest rate at 4.5 claims per 1,000 cars.

The Times reports other high-injury cars were the Suzuki SX4, Chevrolet Aveo, Mitsubishi Galant, Kia Rio, Nissan Versa, Nissan Sentra, Hyundai Accent and Dodge Avenger.

Among those with low injury rates were the Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Silverado, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Lexus LX570, Mercedes-Benz SL-Class convertible, Ford F-150, Land Rover Range Rover and Cadillac Escalade.

That’s pretty silly. Of course a tiny commuter is driven more miles than a semi-exotic sports car or a full size pickup or SUV.

Let’s see those figures adjusted for annual miles driven.
