“Takes away the option of a person arrested on driving under the influence of drugs to submit to a urine test.” Good riddance to the urine test—it was highly inaccurate: if you aimed for the cup and hit the CHP officer’s hand or shoes, you flunked the test. CHP (See H Pee) complained that drivers would flunk on purpose.

Exactly right DZerach. But what do you expect when the phone companies are some of the biggest lobbyists in the state. I’m actually a bit surprised the insurance companies aren’t fighting the hands free phone laws more aggressively. Seems they stand to lose the most.
Considering that cell phones cause more fatalities on the road then drunks now, you would think our “leaders” would be a bit more strict. Hmmm how about a bill that allows drunks to drink and drive if they can do it hands free?

(AB 1536): Legalized distracted driving. Talk and text hands-free because everyone knows driving is only BIS (a butt in a seat). Hey, the traffic hazard to others is your redirected attention. When multitasking, the concentration alternates. A delusion that you can concentrate on two things AT ONCE. The content of these conversations are a little different than the unfocused, casual talk between driver and passenger. How about charging a tax for using your car as commercial office space.
