For the two turn lanes on south-bound Mendocino turning left to east-bound Fountaingrove, the lane marker bumps push the outer lane out too far. Head-on traffic (north turning west) get way too close because there isn’t enough clearance. As a result, most drivers turning from south to east in the outer turn lane are forced to encroach in the inner turn to avoid a head-on collision.

It seems that moving the bumps in the road, to separate the outer turn lane from head-on traffic, would help. In other words, the bumps that separate the two turning lanes going south to east should have a smaller radius.

I see a lot of problems at this intersection with people not wanting to give up the right of way. Cars coming down Fountaingrove Parkway that want to make a right hand turn (usually to get to the Northbound Hwy entrance) are always trying to force themselves into traffic as the 2 lanes are turning coming from the overpass. This is a dangerous area, and drivers are making it more dangerous as they continue to creep out into traffic that is turning towards them. There needs to be a lighted turn signal here and a NO TURN on a red arrow, much like the turn to get on the freeway (northbound) at the new underpass in downtown.

This is over due, I sit at the intersection and watch 2 or three cars run the run light all the time. The people going down fountain grove are not even trying to stop. And the left turn from Mendocino road to go over the overpass is just as bad with Multiple cars running the red lights all the time. The city will make a LOT of money at this intersection.

Five new stop signs is what’s needed between Round Barn Blvd. and Stagecoach Road. Heck, make it traffic lights with cameras! The city of Santa Rosa will make THOUSANDS in a month. Holier than thous run down pedestrians right of way, even through traffics right of way, LEFT AND RIGHT.

If you think watching an intersection with an officer or two during the hours of 10:30am-2:00pm will change anything, you’re wrong.

Driving down Fountain Grove and having the light change from green to yellow is dangerous. And needing to travel many hundreds of feet across the intersection while rolling at 35 mph is scary. People are being injured for life at this intersection from several locations while moving at high speed in out-of-control vehicles.
