Santa Rosa police this coming week will monitor one of the city’s most collision-prone intersections — Cleveland Avenue at West Steele Lane, which last year was tied for third with 10 collisions.
As part of a weekly, Monday through Friday, special enforcement program, Officer Jeff Adams says officers particularly will be looking for drivers not wearing seat belts, who are illegally using cellphones, are speeding, running red lights or committing lane violations.
Each week, the officers pick one of the city’s top 25 collision-troubled intersections to monitor.

turning eastbound from cleveland to steele is an absolute mess. Drivers in the inside lane believe they are the right to middle lane. The problem is the sign is insufficient . They can probably battle their tickets in court successfully.

How does police monitoring an intersection for a short period of time reduce collisions in the long term?
Wouldn’t the correct route of action be to make the intersections safer?
Maybe some extra thought,aka engineer, attention would be a better long-term investment.
