Extra traffic enforcement
Also this week, Santa Rosa police will monitor one of the city’s most collision-prone intersections, Mendocino Avenue at College Avenue, which last year was tied for fourth place with 9 collisions.
As part of a weekly Monday through Friday special enforcement program, Officer Jeff Adams says officers particularly will be looking for drivers not wearing seat belts, who are illegally using cellphones, are speeding, running red lights or committing lane violations.
Each week, the officers pick one of the city’s top 25 collision-troubled intersections to monitor.

Road work and lane closures
U.S. 101/State Route 116 interchange in Petaluma – Caltrans will be working there Monday night, March 25, through Friday night, March 29, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather dependent. Caltrans will close one lane in the westbound and eastbound direction on State Route 116, between Caulfield Lane and Baywood Drive. During this work at least one lane will remain open in each direction.
Blank Road, Cotati – One lane closed for brush cutting Tuesday, 3/26, and Wednesday, 3/27. Expect minor delays.
Geysers Road, Cloverdale – One Lane closed for landslide (near Cloverdale).
Hauser Bridge Road, Fort Ross – One lane closed. Minor delays due to road repairs.
King Ridge Road, Fort Ross – One lane closed. Minor delays due to road repairs.
Martinelli Road, Forestville – One lane closed for brush cutting Tuesday, 3/26, and Wednesday, 3/27. Expect minor delays.
Odd Fellows Park Road, Forestville – Closed. The Korbel Summer Crossing is closed for the season.
Old Duncans Grade, Cazadero – Closed between Austin Creek Road and Cazadero Hwy. due to accident damage to the bridge. Use alternate routes.
Old Monte Rio Road, Monte Rio – Closed between Sunny Drive and Cnopius Road due to a landslide. Alternate routes are required.
Old Monte Rio Road, Monte Rio – Closed between Park Ave. and Duncan Road Monday March 25 through approximately April 11.
Olivet Road, Santa Rosa – One lane closed for grinding and paving work (weather permitting). Expect minor delays.
Stony Point Road, Cotati – One lane closed for culvert replacement project Monday, 3/25 through Friday, 3/29 (weather permitting).
Railroad right-of-way between Sebastopol and Guerneville roads, Santa Rosa – SMART contractor Stacy Witbeck/Herzog will be doing construction on the railroad right-of-way between Sebastopol Road and Guerneville Road from Feb. 19 through April, including track demolition and reconstruction. It may produce noise and minor ground vibration during daytime hours.
