Question: What is happening at Mendocino and Bicentennial Way in Santa Rosa? We’ve seen the “expect delays 06/10-08/10” signs, but there doesn’t seem to be any information on exactly what is going on. I know they have a lot of marking on the street. Do you have any more info – on hours, days whatever? This is a pretty major intersection for people working around here. — Kim Clouse
Answer: A southbound right turn lane and an eastbound right turn lane will be added at the intersection. This will increase the capacity and help reduce delays at the intersection. The intersection and some distance to the north will be repaved. — Kevin McCallum, Press Democrat reporter
Question: For the last several weeks there has been a sign on 101 at the top of the southbound Cotati grade saying, “Stopped traffic ahead” with no sign of stopped traffic (at least at times I’ve traveling in that area). Any idea what the sign is for? – Kevin
Answer: There is a sign on southbound U.S. 101 prior to the N. Petaluma Blvd. off-ramp. It is intended to alert drivers that there is a stopped traffic at the off-ramp. Your reader may not have noticed any stopped traffic if he was travelling through during a noncommute time. — Allyn Amsk, Caltrans spokesman
CLOSURE: State Route 116 in Petaluma: Eastbound 116 will be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday, June 8, through 1 a.m. Monday, June 10, for pile-driving in the median.
