Contractors expect to finish the road repairs on Calistoga Road by 5 p.m. today, with paving crews shifting to night work on Thursday. They will work 7 p.m.-6 a.m., during which time traffic will be limited to one lane only. Delays of up to 20 minutes are expected during those hours, according to Janine Crocker 0f Sonoma County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works.

The 10-day road repair project has put a serious crimp in the commute of those crossing the Mayacamas between Santa Rosa and Calistoga, since the alternate route, Porter Creek Road, also is under construction. Both projects have been on the county’s list of 2013 road projects, but the unfortunate timing was a result of last minute funding for the Calistoga repairs. The months-long Porter Creek bridge repair was already underway when money for the Calistoga Road repairs became available, explained Tom O’Kane, deputy director of Transportation and Public Works.
