Andrew sent in this photo with a (so far) unanswered question. “This mark is painted all over Santa Rosa.  What does it mean?” While we’re checking with official sources, does anyone know?

Thanks to all of you who recognized the Specialized Bicycle logo, but now the question is why? Left over from Tour of California? Advertising the upcoming Annadel race? One really, really loyal fan?

It is the logo of Specialized Bikes and was painted on parts of the Tour of California Route.

I believe this is a symbol that the city of Santa Rosa uses to mark and area that needs to be repaired. (I.E. cracked sidewalk, pot holes, and things of that nature)

They showed up May 19th when Specialized, a sponsor of the Amgen Tour of California, came to Santa Rosa for the Overall Finish. They were on Third Street leading up to the finish line and there were some at Fourth and Mendocino, right next to Specialized’s vendor booth: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151613486541797&set=a.10151610481496797.1073741829.159109281796&type=3&theater
