Here’s what you need to know about navigating Sonoma County roads this week, as well as an update on the Oakland Bay Bridge closure.

Bay Bridge closes through Labor Day

The Bay Bridge will be closed from 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, while its new east span is opened, replacing the original span. Caltrans urges motorists to choose an alternate route and allow extra travel time during that period.

More details and detour routes are available at baybridgeinfo.org or 511.org.

Here’s a simulation of what the new span will look like once it’s open, ow.ly/oavzC.

Sonoma County road work

Road maintenance crews will be clearing slides, ditches and drains along River Road beginning in Rio Nido and continuing west. Traffic can expect one-lane closures due to equipment and trucks with minimal delays.

A fish restoration project begins this week on Graton Road at Purrington Creek, west of Green Hill Road, and will continue through Oct. 15. Expect one-lane traffic controls at various times.

Local traffic will be directed to alternate routes this week while a culvert is replaced on Tower Road in Camp Meeker.

Striping work will be done Wednesday on Olivet Road. Expect some traffic controls and delays.

Traffic Paint and Sign maintenance crews will continue stenciling yellow school pedestrian crosswalks and white stop and stop bars at various locations throughout the county the week.

If available, Cal Fire crews will help with roadside brush removal Tuesday and Wednesday along sections of Lawndale Road and West Dry Creek Road.

Santa Rosa road work

Santa Rosa crews are crack sealing Pine Flat Road near Geyserville. Expect delays.

On Sonoma Avenue, one lane will be closed near Doyle Park Drive as crews continue the mainline valve installation. Expect minor delays.

Work at Bicentennial Way and Mendocino Avenue continues 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays as additional right-turn lanes are built. Expect delays.

Visit Sonoma County’s road closure site for more information about these and other projects.
