The week of Aug. 26, Santa Rosa police will be monitoring one of the city’s most collision-prone intersections, Cleveland Avenue at West Steele Lane, which last year was tied for third place with 10 collisions.

As part of a weekly Monday through Friday special enforcement program, Officer Jeff Adams says officers particularly will be looking for drivers not wearing seat belts, who are illegally using cellphones, are speeding, running red lights or committing lane violations.

Each week, the officers pick one of the city’s top 25 collision-troubled intersections to monitor.

This is great! Since I’ve been hit by a red light runner I know first hand how bad that intersection is!!!

One of the most common infractions at this intersection is when vehicles are in the number one left turn lane from Cleveland onto east W. Steele Lane, and then they shoot across four lanes of traffic to get onto the 101 south onramp. I’ve been hit several times by these idiots, two of which hit and ran!
