Rob Silva, Sonoma County’s roads department operations manager, sent this photo of the chip seal crew on Lichau Road and an update on this week’s county projects. Expect night paving on Old Redwood Highway between Cotati and Petaluma, and longer than normal delays Thursday and Friday on Porter Creek Road.

On Old Redwood Highway in the Penngrove area, the paving contractor will begin night time paving Tuesday, Sept. 10. working 7 p.m.-7 a.m. this week and next. It’s a big project – 3.3 miles from Cotati city limits to Petaluma city limits. The contractor estimates it will take at least six nights to complete, but school, business and commute travel disruptions should be significantly reduced by the nighttime work schedule. Some delays can be expected, and one lane traffic controls will remain in place.

The contractor working on the Porter Creek Bridge Replacement Project will begin pouring concrete decking on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 12 and 13, working 7 a.m.-7 p.m. daily. Longer delays can be expected with the increase of equipment and concrete trucks entering and leaving the work site. Traffic will be subject to one lane traffic controls.

The Lichau Rd. crew will be going back out for a second sweeping this week.

The Cotati road crew began a ditching project Monday on Occidental Rd,  from the town of Occidental to Mill Station Rd. Staff from Healdsburg, Guerneville and Sonoma will be assisting with trucks and personal – work will continue through this week, some traffic delays can be expected.

The Bridge crew will continue with a fish restoration project on Graton Rd west of Green Hill Rd this week.

CDF crews, if available are scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday to assist the Sonoma crew with roadside brush removal along Lawndale Rd, and the Guerneville crew on Guerneville Rd.

Contractors will be paving this week on Valley Ford Rd from Bodega Ave to Hwy 1, with up to 20 minute delays expected.

Striping contractors will be applying center and fog line striping along overlay routes – Stony Point Rd, Petaluma Hill Rd, Arnold Dr, Bodega Hwy, Chileno Valley Rd, Lytton Springs Rd, Geyserville Ave, and West Dry Creek Rd. These are moving projects with some delays expected.
