Full nighttime freeway closures are scheduled this week on Highway 101 at the Petaluma Boulevard South interchange in Petaluma as crews install the temporary bridge supports at the Petaluma Blvd. South interchange. Details about that and other work scheduled throughout the North Coast follows:

In Petaluma, Caltrans has scheduled the following closures:

Northbound Highway 101 will be closed from 11:59 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, and Wednesday, Sept. 25.  Detour: During this closure, Caltrans will temporarily reopen the former Petaluma Boulevard South off-ramp. Motorists will continue on Petaluma Boulevard South to the northbound Petaluma Boulevard South on-ramp and return to the freeway.

Southbound U.S. 101 will be closed 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, and 11 p.m.-6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27. Detour: Exit at State Route 116, turn left on Lakeville Highway, continue to SR 37, turn right, and continue to U.S. 101.

Sonoma County

Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 18, the eucalyptus tree grove along Lakeville Road will be trimmed for safety purposes between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. The work will continue through the following week. Work will be done between Old Lakeville 2 and Old Lakeville 3 roads. Expect delays of 20-30 minutes during work hours.

Other road maintenance activities this week include ditching and slide removal on Geysers Road, the Cloverdale end, and slide removal on Ida Clayton Road.

Cotati crew will begin a mowing and brushing project along Frei Rd near Graton in preparation for a roadside ditching project scheduled for next week. Cal Fire crews will be assisting on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A second Cal Fire crew will be assisting the Guerneville crew with roadside brushing along Guerneville Road on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Paving is scheduled Wednesday for the intersection of Lichau Road at Roberts Road, a follow up to the chip seal that was done two weeks ago.

The Bridge crew will continue the fish restoration project on Graton Road west of Green Hill Road. One lane traffic controls will be set up daily with minimal delays.

Bridge work continues on Porter Creek Road. Up to 20 minute delays can be expected 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Del Norte County

Route 101 (4.0) ‐ Bridge repair work at the G. H. Douglas Memorial Bridge will continue.  One-way traffic control will be in effect with temporary signal 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Motorists should anticipate 5-minute delays. To aid in construction, the traffic lane has been narrowed to 10.5 feet. Route 101 (11.1/11.5)  Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from the Sprowel Creek Road Overcrossing Bridge to the Redwood Drive Overcrossing Bridge Monday, September 16.  Work hours are 9AM to 3:30PM.  Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane. There will be a full closure of the northbound onramp to Route 101 from Garberville. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.  LC#M101EA

Route 101 (79.7/87.8) ‐ A paving project from Eureka Slough Bridge to Arcata Overhead Bridge will continue.  Nighttime work hours are 7PM to 7AM, Sunday night through Friday morning. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction of travel. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Motorists are advised to watch for bicyclists. There will be intermittent full ramp and local street closures during nighttime work hours at Jacobs Avenue, Airport Road, Mid-City, Arcata Redwood, Indianola Cutoff, Bracut, Bayside Road, South G Street Exit (Exit 712), Route 255/Arcata/Sunny Brea Exit (Exit 713), 14th Street Exit (Exit 714A), and Sunset Avenue Exit (Exit 714/714B). No two consecutive onramps or offramps will be closed at the same time.
