Watch for delays on Highway 101 in Novato early Sunday, Nov. 3, as PG&E strings overhead power lines directly across the middle of the intersection with Highway 37.  Work will take place between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday, with CHP officers on hand to coordinate rolling lane closures, according to Caltrans spokesperson Steve Williams.

That work may be in response to a problem spotted in August by Road Warrior reader Brandon Sherron.

“I commute everyday home from San Rafael and have come to rely on the sign in Novato that tells how long it takes to get to Petaluma, Cotati, and Sears Point,” he wrote. “This sign has been off for the last few weeks while the one about 10 minutes South of there has been working just fine, it’s hard to know if it will be better to take the backroads now. Any idea on why the sign isn’t working or when it might be up and running again?”

Williams thinks PG&E’s new overhead wires may solve that problem. Let us know if the sign is still malfunctioning in mid-November.
