Caltrans and Petaluma officials are celebrating today, getting together to announce the completion of the East Washington Street interchange at Highway 101. The project relieved a dangerous bottleneck on the overcrossing bridge, which used to require drivers to make a left turn across Washington Street if they wanted to drive north on Highway 101.

The new, longer northbound on-ramp has been open for a few weeks, and the realigned, widened northbound off-ramp is done now, too.

Rob Silva provides news about Sonoma County crews at work, and Caltrans spokesman Phil Frisbee provides these reports of state projects in counties to the north.
