Northbound Highway 101 will be closed tonight and Friday night to remove a temporary structure that supports bridge construction, Caltrans said.

The freeway will be closed from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday morning and from midnight Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday morning. The northbound loop onramp at Airport Boulevard will also be closed during the construction work.

A detour will involve exiting on Fulton Road and turning left at Old Redwood Highway. Turn left at Shiloh Road and continue to the northbound Highway 101 on-ramp.

If the work is delayed due to weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for a later time, Caltrans said.
The work marks the beginning of the final phase of the project to improve the Airport Boulevard intersection. The new, widened overpass bridge and ramps are scheduled to be completed in 2015.
