Caltrans will begin work tonight to relocate sewer and water lines on College Avenue, between Cleveland Avenue and Morgan Street.

Caltrans tonight will close College Avenue between Cleveland Avenue and the Highway 101 interchange.  Vehicles will be able to reach the ARCO Gas Station and Subway restaurant adjacent to the freeway on-ramp, but through traffic will not be allowed between the southbound 101 freeway on-ramp/off-ramp and Cleveland Avenue.

During the project, closure hours are Monday – Friday, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Detour: Morgan Street to 9th Street to Cleveland Avenue.

No closures are scheduled for Friday night, May 23.

The project will widen College Avenue at 101 between Cleveland Avenue to the west and Morgan Avenues to the east of the interchange. Improvements include new bicycle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks in either direction, a second left-turn lane for eastbound College Avenue approach to the northbound 101 on-ramp, and an extension of the westbound College Avenue to northbound Cleveland Avenue right-turn lane that will start at Morgan Avenue. New replacement traffic signals within project limits will provide further enhancement to the interchange.

When completed, there will be reduced congestion, improved safety, enhanced pedestrian and bicycle access and improved traffic flow at the 101/College Avenue Interchange, Caltrans said.
