Update on Highway 101/Airport Blvd. construction

Those of you who work in the Airport Blvd. business cluster already know about road closures and detours, but what about Jake, a reader who makes an occasional trip to the Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport? “Yesterday, I went to the Charles Schulz Airport via 101 from Santa Rosa. Since I don’t regularly drive to the airport (or surrounding businesses) I didn’t know the overpass construction has temporarily blocked the northbound Airport Blvd exit. I had to drive… Read More »

A happy ending at Airport Blvd.

Whose responsibility is it to maintain the landscaping around highway parcels? Sometimes it’s hard to tell. Steve Mosher wrote in to ask about a lot near the Airport Boulevard freeway exchange that was so full of weeds he could barely walk past them on the sidewalk. He said last year mowing crews never visited the parcel, which runs from the Chevron Station to the U.S. 101 southbound on ramp. “This year nothing except for the trees they cut down nearby,”… Read More »

Once completed in fall 2014, the project will expand the Airport Boulevard interchange… Read More »

Rebuilding of 101/Airport Blvd. interchange may start this fall

Reconstruction of the Airport Boulevard interchange on Highway 101 north of Santa Rosa could begin this fall after the state Transportation Commission on Friday approved $24.1 million for the project. Once finished, expected in fall 2014, the project will expand the Airport Boulevard interchange to a diamond shape, with much longer, wider and sweeping on- and offramps. The bigger interchange will abut the one just to the south at Fulton Road, and that one will be eliminated for safety reasons,… Read More »
