Caltrans plans to shut Commerce Boulevard under Highway 101 in Rohnert Park on Friday night. The closure will be 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday to allow construction crews to remove falsework from a new overpass built over Commerce. The overpass is part of Caltrans’ project to widen Highway 101 to six lanes through Rohnert Park. Caltrans is shutting Commerce Boulevard under Highway 101 in Rohnert Park from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night this week through Friday night to allow construction crews to drill and pour eight, 100-foot piles for a new highway overpass. The work is part of project to widen 101 to six lanes through Rohnert Park. Caltrans had planned the work a couple of weeks ago but pushed it off.
Caltrans announced Wednesday afternoon that it is closing Commerce Boulevard under Highway 101 in Rohnert Park for overnight Wednesday and Thursday. The road will be blocked off from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Caltrans’ announcement didn’t say why, but a good guess is that construction crews are working on some aspect of the new highway overpass that is starting to be built over Commerce. A week after northbound Highway 101 traffic was shifted onto the new Wilfred Avenue-Commerce Boulevard overpass in Rohnert Park, Caltrans on Friday night will move southbound traffic onto it. Caltrans reaches a milestone Friday night on Highway 101 when northbound traffic will be routed over the new Wilfred Avenue-Commerce Boulevard overpass in Rohnert Park. The CHP says the switchover will start around 11 p.m. as construction crews close lanes and on and offramps intermittently to reconfigure the northbound lanes.
