Rob Silva, Sonoma County’s roads department operations manager, sent this photo of the chip seal crew on Lichau Road and an update on this week’s county projects. Expect night paving on Old Redwood Highway between Cotati and Petaluma, and longer than normal delays Thursday and Friday on Porter Creek Road. Intersection of the week

The week of Sept. 2, Santa Rosa police will be monitoring one of the city’s most collision-prone intersections, Piner Road at Coffey Lane, which  last year was tied for fourth place with eight collisions. As part of a weekly Monday through Friday special enforcement program, Officer Jeff Adams says officers particularly will be looking for drivers not wearing seat belts, who are illegally using cellphones, are speeding, running red lights or committing lane violations. Adobe Road closed Saturday for SMART work and other cone zones

Road work continues throughout Sonoma County with very little new to report other than a one-day road closure in Penngrove and two one-day projects on small roads near the Geysers and northwest of Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa’s 25 dangerous intersections

Planning to drive through the intersection of Stony Point and Sebastopol roads in Santa Rosa? Better be careful. It again ranks No. 1 in the city for highest number of reported collisions. SMART rail line construction work continues this week in Santa Rosa, and for about the next month certain roads will be completely closed for a few days at a time where they cross the railroad tracks.
