I’ve heard people joke that a green light means go, a yellow light means go faster and a red light means stop. But I don’t think it’s a joke any longer: More people seem to be trying to beat red lights and they’re stepping on the gas when the light turns yellow. Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Caltrans this week plans road work along Highway 101 in Sonoma County: –From Rohnert Park south to Railroad Avenue in Cotati, crews will be paving northbound lanes 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, with one lane closed. Here are some road projects this week in Sonoma County that may affect you: –On Monday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., county roads crews will be grinding out damaged pavement and putting down fresh asphalt on Crane Canyon Road near Grange Road. Here’s a look at Petaluma’s top collision intersections for 2010, according to the Police Department: First: McDowell Boulevard at East Washington Street, with 12. Police say all of the collisions occurred during daylight hours, 81 percent involved property damage only, 64 percent were caused by unsafe speed, 63 percent were rear-enders, 27 percent involved injuries and 18 percent were sideswiping.
