Extended carpool lanes opening in Marin

Caltrans this week opened a new southbound carpool lane on Highway 101 in Novato and in a couple of weeks plans to open a northbound carpool lane there. Both are signs that the widening of  101 from northern Marin County to northern Petaluma is inching along, although closing the carpool gap will take years to finish. State funds Hwy. 101 change near Sonoma/Marin line

Work is scheduled to start this fall on a project that will begin to reshape Highway 101 just south of the Sonoma-Marin County line. The state  Transportation Commission last week approved $29.7 million for remodeling of the interchange at the Redwood Landfill and  construction of frontage roads that will eliminate intersections with San Antonio Road, Olompali State Historic Park and a few private driveways. Hwy. 101 changes planned near Sonoma-Marin line

Caltrans this month took a step closer to reshaping Highway 101 between the Sonoma-Marin County line south toward Novato. The state Transportation Commission approved $1.492 million to complete design work for a redesigned interchange at the Redwood Landfill just north of Novato and $400,000 to finish designing a realignment a curve along 101 near San Antonio Creek.
