I-80 reopens between Davis, Sacramento

  Interstate 80 at the Yolo Causeway is open again after being closed for about six hours because of a massive police search for a gunman who fired shots at a business in West Sacramento, carjacked a pickup, fired at pursuing police officers and crashed the stolen pickup on the causeway before fleeing. Hwy. 50 to Tahoe to be closed for 2 weeks

Highway 50 on the way to South Lake Tahoe will be closed for about two weeks in mid- to late April or into early May for the replacement of 72-year-old rock walls at Echo Summit. Traffic going to South Lake Tahoe will be detoured east of Sacramento onto Highway 16 to Highway 49 to Jackson to Highway 88 to Highway 89, adding about 35 miles to the trip. If you’re waiting for your new, counterfeit-proof driver’s license, the DMV says the wait is getting shorter. Apply today and you’ll have one in a month. Really, it insists.
