Road work, traffic delays in Sonoma County, St. Helena

If you’re out driving this week, here are a few road work projects to be aware of because of likely traffic delays: –Highway 29′s “Tunnel of Elms” in St. Helena, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. A tree crew will be pruning elm trees for PG&E Co., and one-way traffic control will be in effect. –Mirabel Road, from Highway 116 to River Road. Traffic delays along ‘Tunnel of Elms’ in St. Helena

St. Helena’s “Tunnel of Elms” is getting spruced up, and that means some traffic delays. Caltrans said it’ll have crews trimming dead and overhanging tree branches along a 1,400-foot stretch of Highway 29 next to Beringer Winery in St. Helena. The work, weather permitting, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. One-way traffic control will be in effect, so expect some delays. Noisy St. Helena roadwork

Traffic delays and jackhammering are expected each night this week in downtown St. Helena as Caltrans repairs pavement on Highway 29. The work, which began Sunday, will be 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday as crews dig, grind and replace the pavement near Pine Street, Caltrans spokesman Marcus Wagner said. “Noise will be inevitable. Bay Area annual pothole report

Roads maintained by Sonoma County no longer are the worst in the Bay Area — they’re second worse. In its annual pothole report, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission reported today that the county roads last year had a pavement condition index of 45, which is rated as poor.
