Rob Silva, Sonoma County’s roads department operations manager, sent this photo of the chip seal crew on Lichau Road and an update on this week’s county projects. Expect night paving on Old Redwood Highway between Cotati and Petaluma, and longer than normal delays Thursday and Friday on Porter Creek Road. Roads Report: Porter Creek, Petaluma Hill, Carneros and Mendocino updates

A flurry of new road projects join those already underway in Sonoma County this week. Watch for state crews to start extensive projects on Highways 12 and 121 in the Carneros region, and county crews to start repaving the final unimproved stretch of Petaluma Hill Road between Petaluma and Cotati. Flooding shuts Sonoma County roads

The Sonoma County roads department reports that as of late morning Wednesday, these roads are closed because of flooding: – Valley Ford Road east of Highway 1. – Green Valley Road from Thomas to Sullivan roads. ————– Follow the Road Warrior on Twitter via @PDRoadWarrior

County lists roads to be repaired, repaved in spring, summer

  About 50 miles of Sonoma County-maintained roads are on track to get some type of major repairs next spring and summer. The roads include 14 that got the headlines last week when the county Board of Supervisors approved $6.5 million for that work, but there are several more, including some that have needed help for years. Road work on Sonoma County roads this week

The Sonoma County Department of Transportation and Public Works plans the following road work, with some traffic delays expected this week: –Bodega Highway, today from Sebastopol to about Spring Hill Road, for replacing of road buttons. Roads that may flood — beware!

You almost always can count on the same stretches of roads across the county to flood during a heavy rainstorm, so here’s a list of roads to avoid during today’s storm and future gully washers.
