Santa Rosa motorcycle police officers this coming week will monitor one of the city’s most dangerous intersections — Dutton Avenue at Sebastopol Road, which last year was tied for second with 13 collisions.
As part of a weekly, Monday through Sunday, special enforcement program, Officer Jeff Adams says officers particularly will be looking for drivers not wearing seat belts, who are illegally using cellphones, are speeding, running red lights or committing lane violations.
Each week, the officers pick one of the city’s top 25 collision-prone intersections to monitor.

How about the intersection of Lance and Guerneville Road? Over the last few weeks I’ve seen many people run the red lights on G’ville, well after their light is red. Blatant disregard for the speed limit is an issue, as well.

Santa Rosa has the most dangerous intersections I have ever lived with and I am from L. A. I never go through a green light without looking for those speeding through the red. In L.A. people would die driving this way here in Santa Rosa it is a daily event

I understand their concern regarding Dutton Ave @Sebastopol Rd, but I have witnessed many more horrific accidents at the 101 and 12-West interchange. It is an extended strip that has a ‘one-two’ punch which makes it quite challenging to navigate safely – even for alert, competent drivers.
I’m not one to prioritize ‘death traps.’ No area that has historically grim statistics for pedestrians and drivers should be left alone. They all need to be addressed and I’m confident they will.
Just my perspective.
