You’re tooling through Petaluma in a stolen minivan when you suddenly you find yourself stuck in line at a DUI checkpoint. Whaddya do?

Get out and flee.

Petaluma Police Sgt. Ken Savano reported officers working a DUI checkpoint Friday night found an abandoned minivan in their line of cars, and it turned out the minivan had been stolen in Napa.  Officers were unable to find the suspect(s).

Officers manning two DUI checkpoints Friday night did arrest two suspected DUI drivers, five unlicensed drivers and one driver with a suspended license. One driver was cited for having an expired license.

That’s out of a total o f 1,100 drivers who were stopped at two checkpoints set up Friday night — the first at Lakeville and Wilson streets from 6 to  9 p.m. and the second at Petaluma Boulevard North at Oak Street from 10 p.m. Friday  to 2 a.m. Saturday.
