Be prepared for delays on River, Mark West and Guerneville roads this week.

The Sonoma County Transportation and Public Works Department is planning major road work with significant delays likely:

Westbound traffic was at a standstill Monday morning on Mark West Springs
Road/River Road near Highway 101.

–River Road, from today through June 18 between Old Redwood Highway and Highway 101. A contractor will be grinding down the payment and then putting down a new layer of asphalt. The county department says traffic will be subject to 30-minute delays, so avoid it.

–Mark West Road, today and Tuesday between Old Redwood Highway and Michelle Way for micro sealing. Then June 14 and 15 for chip sealing, where crews spray on an oily substance, spread crushed rock (chips) and roll it down. The department expects 20-minute delays.

–Guerneville Road, today, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between Santa Rosa city limits and Highway 116 for micro sealing and chip sealing. Possible 20-minute delays here too.

–Bennett Valley Road, Tuesday and Wednesday between Sonoma Mountain and Warm Springs roads for brush cutting work. Traffic controls will be in effect.

The department suggest using alternative routes for all of these projects. Definitely.
