Santa Rosa police tonight will hold a DUI/license checkpoint, while 25 officers from around Sonoma County will out looking for drunken-driving suspects and those with warrants.
The checkpoint will be 7 p.m. today to 2 a.m. Saturday, police said. It’s location is not being disclosed by police.
For the other officers, who are participating in a countywide DUI task force, Petaluma Police Sgt. Ken Savano said they will serve DUI-related warrants, check on habitual DUI offenders who are on probation and then begin patrols looking for DUI suspects.
The task force is conducting an 18-day special enforcement on DUI, and after the sixth day — Wednesday — officers had arrested 55 suspected drunken drivers.
