Togetherness is wonderful.

A Santa Rosa man this week was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing his car, and his girlfriend also was arrested on DUI after she drove up to the crash scene to check on him, the CHP reported Thursday.

Brandon Cheney, 23, was arrested after CHP officers responded to a 10:10 p.m. Tuesday call of a collision on Holland Drive near Bennett Valley Road and found a Toyota pickup on its side, blocking the road.

Cheney was found by Santa Rosa firefighters walking on Holland. He told officers that his truck had been stolen and he had been running after it, the CHP said. But officers determined Cheney had been driving and was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him, the CHP said. Cheney has two DUI convictions, the CHP said.

Cheney’s girlfriend, Jennifer O’Neal, 29, of Santa Rosa, arrived after Cheney called her to tell her about the crash. Officers determined she had been drinking and arrested her on suspicion of DUI.

Both were booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
