Starting Thursday morning, northbound lanes of Highway 101 will change a bit for drivers at Highway 116 in Cotati.

Caltrans plans to shift the lanes a bit to the west to direct traffic onto the new overpass at Highway 116. Once over, drivers will jog back to the right to the existing northbound lanes.

Construction crews have spent months building the new overpass, and after northbound traffic shift, they’ll begin demolishing the old northbound overpass.

At some point early next year, northbound traffic will shift back and will use a new northbound overpass. Then southbound traffic will be shifted over to allow demolition of the old southbound overpass.
