Highway 101 about four miles north of Garberville in Humboldt County reopened this morning with one-way traffic controls after a massive mudslide last week blocked the road and by Tuesday morning one lane will be open in each direction.

Last week, Caltrans had expected one-way traffic controls might last for a few days, but spokeswoman Julie East said Monday that construction crews made such progress over the weekend that Caltrans was able to widen traffic access.

For today, East said drivers can expect up to 30-minute delays while waiting their turn to go through the slide area.
