SMART rail line construction work continues this week in Santa Rosa, and for about the next month certain roads will be completely closed for a few days at a time where they cross the railroad tracks. Drivers will need to find alternate routes.

–Guerneville Road, 7 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday.

–Sixth Street, 7 a.m. Nov. 13 to 6 p.m. Nov. 16.

–College Avenue, 7 a.m. Nov. 16 to 6 p.m. Nov. 18

–Ninth Street , 7 a.m. Nov. 27 to 6 p.m. Nov. 30.

–Seventh Street, 7 a.m. Dec. 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 6.

–Eighth Street, 7 a.m. Nov. 11 to 6 p.m. Dec. 21. This closure is longer because it also involves moving a water line and installing a sewer line.

The closures are part of the rail district’s upgrade of the tracks through Sonoma County. Crews are tearing out old crossings and putting in new track and smooth crossings. To do so, they need to shut all lanes at each crossing to allow the work to be done day and night.
