This weekend’s forecast of rain has prompted SMART to postpone its plans for rail line construction work that would have shut College Avenue at the railroad tracks in Santa Rosa this weekend.

The work  now is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Jan. 11 and end at 6 p.m. Jan. 14.

The closures are part of the rail district’s upgrade of the tracks through Sonoma County. Crews are tearing out old crossings and putting in new track and smooth crossings. To do so, they need to shut all lanes at each crossing to allow the work to be done day and night.
