Holiday level traffic comes early this year as Bay Area residents are lured north by a series of concerts, performances and the opening of the Graton Resort and Casino. Police are girded for a busy week. Motorists would be smart to do the same.

In addition, a long-term sewer project begins in Rohnert Park, the city’s general election is Tuesday and Caltrans will close an off-ramp at East Washington Street as part of the ongoing Marin-Sonoma Narrows widening project. NOTICE OF POSSIBLE ROADWAY CONGESTION AND TRAVEL DELAYS

That’s the headline on a press release from the Petaluma Police Department. Officers are expecting heavy traffic to start Tuesday, opening day at the Graton Casino west of Rohnert Park off Golf Course Blvd. West, and advise motorists to expect delays on surface streets as well as Highway 101. Traffic impacts are expected to last two weeks.

The Wells Fargo Center in Santa Rosa has evening performances scheduled Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 5 and 7-9. Maintenance work will be done Monday on the Rohnert Park Expressway Overcrossing between Commerce Boulevard and Redwood Drive, before the big grand opening.

Commerce Boulevard will be receiving new striping between Highway 101 off-ramp and Golf Course Drive from 10 a.m.-noon Monday, with lane closures.

The Adrian Drive Sewer and Water Rehabilitation Project is coming to an end., with paving scheduled this week. No parking will be allowed on Adrian Drive between Santa Barbara and Arlen Ave. between 8 am – 5:30 pm.

Potholing for the East Side Trunk Sewer Project has begun at the corner of Avram Avenue and Commerce Boulevard and will continue to the railroad tracks on Southwest Boulevard.  Expect to see temporary detour signs and/or flaggers during daytime hours. Potholing should be completed by mid-November.

Highway 101/Washington Avenue

At 10 p.m. Monday, Caltrans is planning to close the northbound U.S. 101 off-ramp to East Washington Street in Petaluma to perform a lane shift from the right side to the left side of the ramp. The ramp currently supports two lanes and will continue to do so after this closure. The ramp will have four lanes upon completion of the project. The closure will run 10 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Sonoma County

Janine Crocker of the county’s Department of Transportation and Public Works said road maintenance crews are crack sealing Stewarts Point/Skaggs Springs Road in Healdsburg. Cal Fire crews are going to be on Burnside Rd and Vine Hill School Rd Tuesday & Wednesday. Cotati Road Yard will be out on Doran Park Road cutting brush.

Striping work will start Nov.5 on Old Redwood Hwy from Cotati to Petaluma, Doran Beach Road, Eastside Road from Windsor River Road to Wohler Road and Westside Road. traffic delays will be minor.

Porter Creek Rd has ongoing bridge construction this week west of Franz Valley Rd, expect up to 20 minute delays 7 am to 7 pm daily.

Arnold Drive at the Agua Caliente Road roundabout  is winding down – various landscaping projects are being done at this time.

Northern Counties

Lake County

Route 53 (2.6/7.4) ‐ Highway widening and rehabilitation from Crawford Avenue to the junction of Routes 20/53 will continue through Friday, November 1.  Work hours are 7AM to 6PM, weekdays.  One-way traffic control will be in effect.  Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.  Contractor ‐ Teichert Construction of Davis.  LC#C53AA

Route 1 (3.2/79.3) ‐ Guardrail repairs at various locations from Pirates Drive to DeHaven Creek Road will continue.  Work hours are 7AM to 7PM, weekdays.  One-way traffic control will be in effect.  Motorists should anticipate 5-minute delays.  Contractor ‐ Coral Construction of Wilsonville.  LC#C1EA

Route 271 (6.0/22.7) ‐ PG&E of Ukiah has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for tree trimming from about 1.0 mile south of the Caltrans Leggett Maintenance Station to the Humboldt/Mendocino County line beginning Monday, November 4.  Work hours are 8AM to 4PM, weekdays.  One-way traffic control will be in effect.  Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.  LC#P271BA

Route 197 (0.0/1.3) ‐ Pacific Power of Crescent City has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for utility work from the Junction with Route 199 to Simpson Park Drive. Daytime work hours are 8AM to 5PM, weekdays. There will be intermittent full ramp closures during nighttime work hours at the Route 255/Arcata/Sunny Brea Exit (Exit 713), 14th Street Exit (Exit 714A), and Sunset Avenue Exit (Exit 714/714B). No two consecutive onramps or offramps will be closed at the same time. Route 211 (73.2/73.9)  Ferndale High School has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for the Ferndale High School Homecoming Parade from Ocean Avenue to Arlington Avenue on Friday, October 1.
