Caltrans today opened a new offramp at Highway 101 and Petaluma Boulevard South. Contractor Ghilotti Bros. completed the southbound offramp nearly three weeks early. The old southbound offramp had been closed at there had been no way for southbound traffic to exit at the interchange during construction.

The interchange now has southbound on and offramps and an overpass bridge that will eventually connect to Kastania Road. Work continues on the northbound on and offramps and frontage roads that will extend Petaluma Boulevard South on the east side of the freeway and Kastania Road on the west side.

The $130 million project will also replace the Petaluma River Bridge with a wider, six lane span. That work is expected to last into 2016.
