Caltrans played Santa today to Sonoma County drivers and delivered a long-awaited gift: Raising the speed limit between Santa Rosa and Windsor on Highway 101 to 65 mph.

The limit had been lowered to 55 for the last two years during a $120 million construction project to widen Highway 101 to six lanes, now completed. Today, crews were removing the 55-mph signs and uncovering the 65-mph signs, thus making legal what most drivers had been doing anyway.

Ironically, raising the speed limit to 65 was on the Road Warrior’s Christmas wish list posted just this morning. To read the list, CLICK HERE.
